POSITION SUMMARY

Clean resident rooms and other interior and exterior facility areas under the supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor. Assist in maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the residents.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As an Arboreta Housekeeping Assistant, essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Ensure cleaning schedules are followed.
  • And coordinate daily housekeeping services with other departments.
  • Ensure that equipment and supply carts and adequate supplies are property maintained.
  • Ensure that lighting is in proper working order.
  • And assist others in lifting as requested.
  • Clean (including vacuuming, wiping, mopping, polishing, etc.} rooms, offices, and common areas, polish and straighten items.
  • Ensure residents' rooms are safe, comfortable, and maintained in an attractive manner and residents' personal items are safeguarded.
  • Clean up spills, soiled areas, and other conditions as observed or directed.
  • Ensure equipment and wor1< areas are safe; that procedures regarding cleaners or hazardous materials or objects are strictly adhered to and that equipment and supplies are property stored.
  • Ensure Universal precautions and infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices and procedures are followed
  • Promptly report any hazardous conditions, equipment, incidents and accidents.
  • Strip, wax, and buff floors as directed, move and replace furniture.

As an Arboreta Laundry Aid, essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Sort, clean, wash, dry and fold linen according to proper facility procedures.
  • Prepare linen carts with appropriate amounts of linen for nursing personnel.
  • Handle linen services for other departments as required.
  • Follow all sanitation and infection control procedures.
  • Interface with other facility departments personnel regarding linen delivery services and report to Supervisor.
  • Assist or prepare laundry personnel schedules.
  • Report equipment problems to the Supervisor.
  • Sort and separate old worn linen, complete monthly linen inventories and notifies Supervisor of replacement linen needs.
  • Prepare special linen packets and monitor linen on the floor for quality.
  • Report any problems to the supervisor.

Maintain good communication between the Laundry Department and Supervisor.

s an Arboreta Dietary Aid, essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
  • Assist in serving meats as necessary and on a timely basis.
  • Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
  • Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Clean worktables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
  • Sweep and mop floors as directed.
  • Carry soiled utensils, etc., to wash area.
  • Return clean utensils to proper storage areas.
  • Wash and clean utensils as directed.
  • Carry out garbage and keep work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Set up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed.
  • Assist cook in preparing meals.
  • Distribute and collect menus as necessary.
  • Obtain food supplies for next meal.
  • Assist in checking diet trays before distribution.
  • Deliver food carts, trays, etc., to designated areas.
  • Serve food in dining room as instructed
  • Perform dishwashing/cleaning procedures. Assure that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.
  • Remove food trays from carts, dining rooms, etc., and take to dishwashing area.
  • Prepare and deliver snacks, etc., as instructed.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Qualifications including minimum skills, experience and education required include:

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education.
  • On-the-job training provided.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing dietary practices.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
